Discard broken frames, badly scratched lenses, lenses only,
and prescription sunglasses.

Discard prescriptions with greater than .75 diopters
difference between each eye unless they are aphakic.

Discard prescriptions with greater than .75 cylinder unless
it is within 10 degrees of 90 or 180.

Discard prescriptions with prism.

Write all prescriptions in minus cylinder form.

Ignore .25 diopter of cylinder and write as a sphere.

Round cylinder axis off to the nearest 5 degrees.

Make sure all glasses are cleaned and straightened.

Record right eye prescription first.

Put all glasses in zip lock plastic bags.

Label bags with masking tape or computer labels on the top
of the bag.

Save good frames with bad prescriptions; knock out the
lenses.

Save all scrap gold.
