TEPEHUANES, MEXICO
(In the State of Durango)
This upcoming eyeglass mission will be in a remote area of north-central Mexico.
Don’t expect our destination to be like the sunny beaches of Mexico’s coastlines.
Tepenhuanes is located in the Sierra Madres Mountains, which run straight through the country.
Tourism has not yet found our mission site, so we will be experiencing the real everyday life of the native people.
The dates are tentatively set for October, 2008.
Plans include our flying to Chicago where we will transfer to an airline that will take us direct to Durango, Mexico.
We will spend that first night in Durango . The next day, we will travel by bus to Tepenhuanes.
(4 hours) Have your camera handy. We should expect to see some exciting scenery.
Clinic will be open 4 days, with a free day in the midst.
Some R & R will be available back in Durango.
This will be a perfect opportunity to visit our southern neighbors.
What a great time to work on your Spanish!!!

MEXICO
WINTER BREAK
We have been invited to do a mission in the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico.
Our hosts will be Angel Notion, a Mexican local charity for children and adults that are in need of medical services.
We will fly into Cancun and be transported about 55 miles down the coast to Paamul. (Near Playa del Carmen)
Our housing will be log cottages near the ocean. We will be transported daily inland to the clinic site.
After the mission, Paamul will be a desirable spot for some R & R.
It is a small community on a great bay, an ideal spot for scuba diving.
The proposed time to do this mission is sometime during the first two weeks of February, 2009.

Talanga, Honduras
This trip has a full complement of volunteers, with the exception of FLUENT Spnaish speakers.
If you are fluent in Spanish, please contact me.
Plans are being made to take a team to Talanga, Honduras. The tentative dates are
February 18th to 28th 2009. These dates include travel time, 4 clinic days and 2 days of R & R.
Flights to the capital city, Tegucigalpa include a stopover in Houston.
Once arriving in Honduras, we will have a hour drive to Talanga.
This is a very poor area, with a great need for our help.
Don’t be hesitant about this tongue-twisting name of Tegucigalpa. Translated means "silver mountain".
It will be a perfect destination for a dedicated VOSH team.
